weekend warrior
well, the weekend was pretty super. i am pleased to report back, that i have gone to the gym three of the last six mornings. not too shabby. i went last wed & thurs and this morning. hangovers = sleeping in… and fri, sat & sun had hangovers. so what’s a girl to do?
on saturday we had to take our car into get fixed (again. another $1000) and walked back from the mechanic… took about 40 minutes, but man, it was no nice out. we went to the mall and ate lunch at east side marios. it’s a poor substitute for the olive garden, but they had double caesers on special for $4.95 for my guy, and they have kokanee gold on tap for me. nothing like getting a few drinks in you by 11:30am.
we hit the mall briefly, i bought a dress for vegas and picked up the prints for my invites. they look really good, so i ordered 50 more to make all the invites. i expect these will be ready tomorrow (apparently future shop in the ‘burbs is slow as all effing hell) and then i hopefully will finally get those damn things mailed out by the end of this week. but they do look pretty good. i just need to buy labels and glue that won’t warp my pictures. oh ya, and cut down my paper. ugh. i’ve totally been avoiding that.
saturday night we had dinner and drunk sleepover at a friend’s place. it was super fun. we got wasted, blazed doobies and played rock band. i have no rhythm, so i only sang. very badly. no really. when i say that, it’s not like i’m looking for compliments… it’s an actual warning. i really can not carry a tune. but when you’re drunk you don’t really seem to care anymore. and i was pleased that i scored 99% (on easy) on sabotage. at least i can pump out a beasties tune, lol. my guy loved the drums… so i think we’re going to buy rock band instead of guitar hero. you know… eventually.
sunday we nursed our hangovers with parts 1 & 2 of the battlestar galactica movie (AWESOME) and we finally watched juno. we’ve had it downloaded and burned for weeks, and i kept forgetting to watch it. i thought it was cute… but some people i know were totally gaga over it. and i don’t really get that. it was good though… just not like, life changing. and to be honest, after our movie sesh, i found myself laying in bed thinking of battlestar galactica, not juno, lol. so there you have it.
oh, except that damn moldy peaches song. that’s fucking stuck in my head. those guys are… something. i saw them open for the strokes at the commodore waaaaay back… maybe in 2002? anyways, they were one of the most drugged up bands i’ve ever seen. like, they were a fucking MESS. the songs were… well, basic as can be, funny lyrics here and there to keep you interested… but most of the draw was just being curious if they’d stay upright for their entire set. heroin is bad kids. those guys were seriously effed up.
anyways… that was my good times weekend.
right now, it’s bad times… i’m on the phone with fido. i got my bill this morning, and i have all these bunk charges that are “out of zone calling” charges. what the eff? i haven’t been anywhere out of zone. i haven’t left the lower mainland in months. i call bullshit. and it’s like $40 extra on my bill.
hey, yey. for once my shit actually got dealt with. it’s getting taken off my bill. apparently it was some sort of glitch in the system that was reading vancouver calls as being from a different location. so if you’re on fido, check your bill.
it’s multi-tasking blogging fantastic? lol… typing while complaining to the phone company.
also this weekend i started my tastebook. i’ve added in 20 of my best and most favourite recipes. and i still have room for 80 more, lol. so… uh… i’m taking submissions. i have probably 60 or 70 total of mine that i could add, but that still will leave me with some spare room. but of course i could always just fill it with drink recipes. anyways, i’m totally having fun with it. it is a pain in the ass to type in all the recipes, but really nice to get them off the scraps of paper that i have a giant stack of in my pantry. its also been challenging to make up amounts for some of my recipes. so many of them are just a list of ingredients, and i know by eyeballing how much goes in. that might work for me, but it’s going to be pretty useless to anyone else that reads them. so, it’s a work in progress. but i’m stoked on it.
okay. back to work.

Ooo! My favorite hang over drink is a double espresso martini. Coffee and liquor all in one big fancy glass. Yum.

See if you can find some “Yes Paste.” I got some at an art supply store and it’s intended for collage and photos and stuff. It’s thicker than glue but not as thick as a glue stick. I used a palette knife to apply it.
If you can’t get your hands on that small smeared flat dots of white glue applied with a toothpick (the flat kind) will do the trick. I glue a LOT of photos to cards for a small business I have and that’s what I use. six dots on the back of each picture.

The gym fucking rules. I just started going too - it was my resolution for 2008. Think of how fucking fly we’re gonna look when we start working off all the alcohol, Nat.
Also: I was at that Strokes show. October of 2001. It was like fucking Beatlemania. This is what it sounds like when doves cry.

of course you were at that strokes show, lol
i would have expected nothing less.
it was fucking amazing. remember how loaded julian was? he fell down a lot. and i believe he sang “last night” from laying down on the middle of the stage.
he was loaded when he came on, and i counted… he had 9 beers during their set.
now that’s a fucking rock star.
